DJ Bricksta

Straight Outta Canberra

..with more tracks than you can throw a cease & desist at.

I’m back with some tunes coming out of the hottest producer’s studio’s in our fair town and god there’s some good stuff around. I’ll put an upcoming label release from me on the bottom for good measure too. These tracks are either recent releases or exclusives so sink your teeth in to some freshness!

First cab off the rank is Peking duK, and their track Violence on time which they did with local rappers Raw City Rukus who I believe I saw in action at Suburban House Party, a massive house party with a stellar local lineup run by UniVibes here in the capital earlier this year.

The boys are the type of group that get better with each release and there’s no need to hype this stellar track any further. Get down on the 320 mp3 here.

»> Get Stellar- The Moment (Extended Edit)

This next release is from a new Canberran, Get Stellar. He just moved here from Adelaide, already taking part in the local scene as a DJ at Party By Jake. For your musical consumption above, is the extended edit of his release The Moment from the EP of the same name. He’s given me the all clear to post it in 320 glory so grab the edit below to get you hyped up to grab the rest of the release off iTunes or Juno Download. The release includes a remix from Melbourne indie dance superstar GLOVES and a fidget remix from South African Nick Supply which I have just started smashing out in my own sets.

»> Team_Wing- Licker

There’s no way you can escape the Team_Wing boys in Canberra, playing everywhere and continuing to smash out a heap of production work. It’s been quiet on the production front as of late however, as the boys have been working on a label release for Happy Day Records. The EP is still being worked on with the label but for the time being I present to you a 192kbps copy of one of the tracks ‘Licker’, which has got me excited for good reason, It’s one of the best tracks to come out of the berra in some time.

To round this post off, two quick embeds of upcoming releases.

First one is from me, as The Sneak, its called The Border. There’s a Dave Clarke inspired House/Techno track from me as DJ Bricksta on ‘the flip’ and it will be coming out on 30hz Moth soon. No doubt ill post about it again when it’s ready to rumble.

The 2nd release is my favorite track off Renaissance Man’s new EP on Made to Play called ‘Babbadabba’, It’s a corker. That one is out on May 24th.

So that concludes my posting for the week, I’ll be truly back into the swing of things from next week with my review of the new Flying Lotus LP, tunes to post, and commentary on what’s happening dance music wise.

New Bricksta Music

I’m back with new tracks. Lets get straight into it.

The Family Table is my latest track as The Sneak, my hip hop and dubstep alias. I took a sample from a jazz track and went from there. Later on I incorporated a recording of my extended family sitting down to dinner and from there I had concept which allowed me to build the whole beat. Looking forward to sharing more of the hip hop stuff with you guys in the coming months.

Miscellaneous Hot Italian Female is my pride and joy at the moment. I took a JB’s track, chopped and warped a heap of it and just built a solid, minimalistic house groove around it. I constantly am inspired by those early tracks that just focus on one main groove and this track is really a homage to those.

Fire! (At The Canberra Centre) is a bit of a joke. I was walking around the Canberra Centre, the major shopping area here in Canberra and the fire alarm went off. Naturally, nobody reacts to alarm’s anymore, so lunchtime for many carried on as usual. I found  such a ‘serious’ sounding alarm and the non-reaction of hundreds of hungry people funny,  so I decided to record the alarm and make a chaotic pitch shifting mess to represent the ‘what if?’ everything went wrong. Sorry if that doesn’t make sense. Its not meant to.

Lastly, Streets of London. I uploaded this track onto SoundCloud a couple of months ago but it lacked a mixdown that worked and really a structure and mix that wasn’t so rushed, so here it is again. This time however, its ready to rumble.

Enjoy these tracks. I look forward to hearing your reactions. You can download all these tracks and more from my SoundCloud page.
