Blog Bootys Baby

Two picks off the blogs that are doing my head in for two reasons, one’s insane, one’s a sign that the Duck Sauce EP is finally about to drop!

First one is care of this post at Potty Mouth Music profiling the man I consider head of the ‘fidget’ scene, Lee Mortimer. He’s done a bootleg of an old Funky House track by M&S called Sasoul Nugget which as you can imagine means the ultimate tune ever made.

Lee Mortimer Vs M&S- Bootsoul Nugget

Secondly was a nice find on aussie blog Stoney Roads of an edit of the new Duck Sauce tune, Barbera Streisand (Link to post and track). The track was launched at WMC this year and as far as I can see none of these guys who have done edits for blog’s actually have the tune, they have just recreated the track from hearing the clear cut Boney M samples in the videos of it being played.

The fact there’s new material suggests two things to me:

1. A-Trak isn’t stupid and has realised any hardcore Duck Sauce fan already has already got a copy of the EP and is by now sick of tunes. They are everywhere.

2. This EP is probably not going to include some tracks we already know and will probably have 2-3 new additions. Maybe they have a whole another EP up their sleeve to capitalize on the success of the project.

Armand Van Helden: Back on Form

Has anybody noticed how all of Armand Van Helden’s production work has changed post Duck Sauce? I think its a sign that Armand’s ‘future’ tracks that harp back to the past are going to shape the funky sound taking over house yet again (Funky House 2.0 even ;)), whether its through disco, the cut up funk of Voodoo Chilli and Reset!, or just straight up sample jams like Armand’s last two big remixes (embedded at the end of the post).
