"Techno has for too long clung to its self-mythology: the unshakable idea that it’s a vanguard music, that it’s still some kind of future-rushing phenomenon. In the past half-decade the hollowness of that claim has become increasingly obvious. Techno today feels like a nostalgia industry, fixated on its own past, and all too eager to operate within established boundaries, not to break any rules. A once fluid and revolutionary sound has become – in the main – polite, toothless, interminably dull."

Im starting a Mailing List so those are interested in keeping up with everything I am doing once a month in 2011 can do so. I will send one email in early august though so subscribers can get my two sided ‘European Adventure’ mix before it goes online, and you also get my track ‘Cold Soul’ as a 320kbps mp3 just for signing up. Bricksta’s European Adventure: Club Raw Mix Broadcast

One of the things I’ll be sharing in August when I leave is a two ‘side’ mix, recorded on the Stanton decks that started everything for me. However, if you want a chance to hear the ‘Sunny Side’ of the mix before then, tonight’s your chance.

Club Raw with Coombsie broadcasts from 8PM AEST on the Raw FM Radio Network which stretches from NSW down to Shepparton in VIC, with the ACT obviously falling in that range as well.

Coombsie gave me the heads up that the 40min mix will be broadcast just after 9PM. I hope you can tune in! Here’s the mix lineup,

Tracklist:
DJ Bricksta- Intro (Wide World Of Sports Theme)
Dopamine- Spunk
Duck Sauce- The Motion
Fake Blood- Fix Your Accent (Bricksta Cheeky Edit)
Fatboy Slim- Weapon of Choice (Lazy Rich Dub)
Andrew Friendly- The Bump And Grind
Louis La Roche- Prick Stick (Moonchild Remix)

Bricksta’s European Adventure: This August (Updated)

Edit (2/07/10)- The new art for facebook is up! Check out www.listn.to/djbricksta to have a peek. All the content is coming together nicely too. A post to follow on what’s on the new site in the coming weeks!

It’s time to make it official!

In Mid August I am heading to Europe, and I honestly don’t know when I will be back, though I am guessing it will be sometime in December.

2010 so far has been nothing short of phenomenal for me. I started the year with a residency at Academy which has allowed me to do a variety of gigs including headlining at the club twice and supporting some of my heroes in dance music. I also got to play at Warehouse and I can’t thank local promoters Kicks enough for the hard work they have put in to enable these opportunities for me.

Kicks however, are not the only people who have been a great source of encouragement, inspiration and for the most part, a big help getting the word out there (whether past or present). Big thanks to Dale Baldwin, Mark Lightfoot, Duncan & Chris @ Party By Jake, Max Smart @ Groove City, Deckhead, Keep/Real, Pretension, Kultrun, Chowderhawk, Peking Duk, Ryz @ Biscuits Crew, Amplidyne, DCDJ, Jim Medcraft, Shifty Business (BEST act in Canberra), Tim Galvin (for the bio!), Karton, Lachlan Nicholas, Ben Colin, Team_Wing, Staky, Sean Kelly, Offtapia and Jared Calnan.

The biggest thankyou must go to everyone who has been reading the blog, and the energy punters have been giving when I have been playing across Canberra. It’s been beyond fun, some nights this year I don’t think I’ll ever forget.

Production wise this year has been a step up like no other, with a heap of music coming your way soon. Before I go, my extremely short 3 track EP as Collar will be released through this blog. Whilst I am away a EP as The Sneak will be released and I will also be releasing a few DJ Mixes along the way.

My tracks Streets of London, M.H.I.A and my James Brown Bootleg got some blog attention, and I was lucky to have my release from last year, The Death Of Luke EP, featured on Mashable. It was amazing to continue to get positive feedback for that release almost 12 months after I put it out on my BandCamp page, many thanks to all who took the time to get in touch.

Obviously, when I leave is still a while away so this post will eventually be updated and a load of content will be up the day I leave. I’ll hopefully be working with a few people oversea’s on some tunes so hopefully they will come up as they are completed over there. There’s a few special things happening before I go so keep coming back for details of those next month.
